Weatherford Optimist is a non-profit entity located in Weatherford Texas whose mission is to support the youth in Parker County. They perform fundraisers throughout the year to enable these missions. In the fall, the Weatherford Optimist Club hosts and manages the youth football league, providing children ages 6 to 13 an opportunity to learn flag and tackle football, and cheerleading. These opportunities give children, both boys and girls, an avenue to learn team building, leadership, and social skills unavailable in other settings.
The Weatherford Optimist club contacted me after an extended period of time where the website they had sat in limbo, unfinished, and on a server they didn’t have access to. They needed a quick rescue, logo/branding, and a website to manage their membership registrations, provide a way for parents to register and pay for football and cheer programs, and a place for parents to check the most recent scores during season. We implemented a membership plugin to manage the Optimist membership roster and payments, an e-commerce plugin to facilitate the registrations for the football program, a series of forms to gather much needed information during football/cheer registrations, and WordPress for easy updates of information and scores during season. We wanted to make football signups easier, and more efficient for the parents, omitting the need for mail in checks.

Weatherford Optimist has enjoyed excellent feedback and support from parents who wanted an online option, and steady growth in child/parent participation in the programs.
